Signs of a
sustainable recovery in the USA
June
2014
US Unemployment
Rate vs. Monthly Nonfarm Payrolls The graph (view here) of
Efficient Frontiers, shows that the number of jobs created over the month of
May, increased by 217,000, well above the economic expectations of 215,000. The
gradual decrease in the unemployment rate over the past 5 years, along with
improving Nonfarm payrolls, highlights a sustainable recovery in the
unemployment market and supports a continued, gradual retraction in “stimulus”
(QE tapering). We have emphasized in our
newsletters over the past 12 months that sustainable growth is to be found in
the first world countries, not in South Africa. The two unit trusts that we
managed, namely Kanaan Flexible and Kanaan Balanced, do have the maximum
offshore exposure allowed, namely 25% since August 2013. Members of the public
though, are allowed to invest more than 25% offshore. If you want to know how
to go about, contact us or click “Funds” on our website page.
